Karl Simpson bn 1966

Karl started painting seriously at age 44yrs when a colleague asked him to attend a painting class. Prior to this he had merely drawn caricatures of colleagues as a bit of fun.

He quickly became captivated by the art from and attended a regular club and even started his own club.

In 2016 he entered his first works into a regional art event and won first prize in three categories.

Since then he has regularly entered regional exhibitions and with the British Art Exhibition company in Manchester and Harrogate.

He offered work for sale via Carol Marine’s “Daily Artworks” and sold work to the USA , Canada and Russia.

In 2023 he appeared on the Channel 4 TV Arts programme “Drawers off” with Jenny Eclair.

He now has work in the Pomfret Gallery in Pontefract and offers tuition in Portraits, Figurative and still life painting.

He is currently working on a project exploring his dual Jamaican / British heritage via portraits of family members which he hopes to show in 2025.
